On March 31, at the invitation of researcher Yang Minghui from Ningbo Institute of Materials Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xing Xianran of Beijing University of Science and Technology visited Ningbo Institute of Materials Science and Technology and gave an academic report entitled "Pb2.5Li0.7Nb5O15 Crystal Structure, Negative Thermal Expansion, and NLO Effect".
Professor Xing Xianran gave a detailed introduction to the negative thermal expansion substances found so far, and explained the factors of their negative thermal expansion. At the same time, the main research results of the team are briefly introduced. In the report, Professor Xing Xianran introduced the design and performance control of Pb2.5Li0.7Nb5O15 negative thermal expansion compounds. The precise structure of Pb2.5Li0.7Nb5O15 was determined by single crystal diffraction, neutron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. It is demonstrated that the material possesses enormous nonlinear optical properties due to its local structural deformation. Professor Xianran Xing gave an in-depth analysis of the crystal structure, negative thermal expansion and NLO effect of Pb2.5Li0.7Nb5O15. The report was very vivid and aroused the wide interest of teachers and students present. Xing Xianran is a professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing and the head of the Department of Physical Chemistry. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Anqing Normal University in July 1988, and a doctorate degree in metallurgical physical chemistry from Beijing University of Science and Technology in March 1994. He has studied and worked in the United States, Austria, Japan and other universities. In 2005, he was named as the Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education. In 2007, he was funded by the National Outstanding Youth Fund. He is currently a member (convener) of the Metallurgical Engineering Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the head of the innovation team of the Ministry of Education, and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry ( FRSC), Advisory Editorial Board of Chemical Communications, etc. Research direction: ① Design and performance regulation of negative thermal expansion compounds, ② Synthesis of crystal structure and new functional compounds, ③ Phase evolution and reaction mechanism in metallurgical process, etc. Main courses: "Solid Chemistry", "Material Chemistry", "Metallurgical Thermodynamics" ", "Application of Phase Diagram in Metallurgy", "Metallurgy and Material Thermodynamics", "Functional Materials" and more than 10 courses.
